Let's pass the Kids Online Safety Act!
On January 31, the world watched as Congress grilled social media companies’ CEOs about their failures to protect kids online. At the hearing were dozens holding pictures of their children who died because of harms experienced on social media.
These parents are tireless advocates for the Kids Online Safety Act because they know that this bipartisan legislation is our best chance at addressing a wide range of serious – and often deadly– online harms to children, including cyberbullying, eating disorders, sexual exploitation, suicide, and social media addiction.
The Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) would go far to create the protections young people need from Big Tech’s harmful business model. If passed, online providers would be required to stop sending young people down dangerous rabbit holes, parents and caregivers would have more tools to protect their children, and social media companies would be required to have the strongest privacy and safety settings by default.
KOSA has an astonishing 68 co-sponsors in the Senate, with broad support from both parties. Now that there’s a House version of KOSA, it could become law in a matter of months.
Tell your representatives: cosponsor H.R. 7891, the Kids Online Safety Act and protect our children today!
